Creative Ways to Step Away from the Screens

Screen time can be enjoyable, but it can also be addictive and pull you away from truly enjoying your life…as well as negatively impact your health. Here are some creative ways you and your family can step away from the screens:

 

  • Get creative – work on arts and crafts projects with things you find around the house
  • Make the kitchen/dining room table a screen-free zone
  • Whenever possible, relax and enjoy meals as a family
    or with friends
  • Enjoy an after dinner walk
  • Host a regular game night and have family and
    friends over
  • If you have children, host a kids-only game nights on the weekends
  • Go outside and shoot some hoops, play tennis, badminton, volleyball, etc.
  • Walk the dog
  • Explore a nearby park
  • Turn on the tunes and show off your dance moves
  • Host a scavenger hunt (in the house or the neighborhood)
  • Ensure your children’s chores include some type of physical activity, such as vacuuming,
    mowing the lawn or washing the floors
  • Search for great places to play near you on Kaboom
  • Get your nose in a book or magazine and visit the library regularly
  • Host a craft corner evening
  • Start a book club
  • Consider taking engaging lessons or classes (healthy cooking, yoga, etc.)
