Students Working Against Tobacco in Lee County have created their own website at www.SWATLeeFL.webs.com to encourage middle and high school age kids to get involved in creating a healthier future for their generation!
SWAT is a statewide youth organization working to mobilize, educate and equip Florida youth to revolt against and de-glamorize Big Tobacco. They represent a united movement of empowered youth working toward a tobacco-free future.
Youth can get involved through their school, a community group or their church. SWAT clubs are forming all over Lee County, and provide members with leadership experience, an opportunity to work collaboratively with elected officials and other decision makers who initiate policy change.
Some of the policy changes in which SWAT members are involved include fighting the candy flavoring of tobacco products, depowering tobacco marketing techniques aimed at children, eliminating second-hand smoke in multi-family housing and creating tobacco free school policies.
