Matanzas on the Bay, a waterfront restaurant located on Fort Myers Beach, is hosting the 10th Annual Fillet and Release Fishing Tournament on Sept. 20. More than 500 anglers are expected to participate in the light tackle, inshore fishing tournament with shotgun start at 7 a.m. and boats returning by 3 p.m. Last year’s event raised more than $16,000 to benefit Hope Hospice.
During weigh-in, participants can participate in a raffle to benefit Hope Hospice. A dinner and awards ceremony will follow. Winners are determined by total weight of fish caught. Eligible species include Redfish and Snook, and all fish will be released following weigh in. The entry fee is $250 per team with a maximum of four angler per boat.
