Inaugural Family, Fun, Sports Expo

We had an excellent turnout for the first-ever Family Fun Sports Expo at the Skatium!  The FREE sports event allowed kids grades 3 through 5 to try sports such as basketball, martial arts, boxing, skating, yoga, and hockey!  The event included vendors providing cardiovascular health education, CPR demonstrations, blood pressure and ECG screenings, and sports injury prevention. Harry Chapin Food Bank provided a healthy and nutritious food demonstration that concluded with a healthy cowboy caviar snack for the attendees.  Harry Chapin also distributed 400 pounds of food at the event! 
 
To encourage healthy habits, those who visited the educational tables were entered into a drawing for a Fitbit!  The happy winner, Angel Gonzalez, is shown above with Lee Health Trauma educator Tracey Thornton, who drew the lucky winners!   Thank you to everyone who attended and ALL our community partners for helping make this possible, including organizers, the American Heart Association, the Department of Health, Ft. Myers Parks and Recreation, Harry Chapin Food Bank, the Lee County School District, and Lee Health.
