Coalition Annual Meeting Honors Sheriff Marceno
August 25 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pmFree
Jonathan Engh, Chairman of the Board of the Lee County Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Florida has announced that this year’s Annual Meeting of the Lee County Coalition will feature the presentation of the Hanley Foundation Prevention Superhero Award to Sheriff Carmine Marceno.
This event is planned for Tuesday, August 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cape Coral Police Department, 1100 Cultural Park Boulevard, Cape Coral. It is free and open to the public. Social distancing will be observed, and visitors will sign a Covid informational form and agree to have their temperature recorded.
Says Engh, “It is our privilege to honor Sheriff Marceno for the support that the Lee County Sheriff’s Office has shown for our mission of prevention Since 1989 when the Coalition was founded. Some of the prevention initiatives that the Sheriff’s Office has pioneered include Operation Medicine Cabinet, including one of the first drug hand-in events in the country in 2007; Drug House Odyssey, which celebrated 26 years of prevention this year; and daily prevention offered by our award winning School Resource Officers”.
The Hanley Foundation has partnered with the Coalition in providing prevention to Lee County families, including parenting programs, both live and online, the Alcohol Literacy Challenge and the Teen Intervene Evidence Based Program.
The Coalition meeting will also feature a number of Coalition Success Stories, including the “Running Away from Vaping” Public Service Announcement created by the Olympia Track Club Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Prevention Club, and a presentation by the Cape Coral High School SADD Club.
