Our friends and families affected by mental illness have been afraid to speak up about their suffering for far too long. The fear of judgment, shame, or embarrassment has kept them from seeking help and advocating for their needs. Then came NAMI. What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into the nation’s leading voice on mental health and advocacy. With NAMI behind them, our friends and families can now speak truth to power, knowing they are backed by a community that cares. So now it’s their time to take the lead.
